4:35 pm	More news on Beautiful Junk Due to the uncertainty of the weather, the organiser of Beautiful Junk(BJ) has to move its venue from Fort Cornwallis to the indoor Dewan Seri Pinang(DSP). This way, BJ will go on whether rain or shine. Another good news is, DSP is just a few hundred meters from the original venue. Mike and Lefty will be stationed at the Gilamon booth on that day(11th June, 2005). we will be launching a few Gilamon items namely: • Gilamon ‘zine #1 • Gilamon T-shirt (design: Mike layout: Sau Lim art: Lefty) • Gilamon/Beautiful Junk crossover T package @Radioactive booth To spice things up, Mike even brought back some really funky T-shirts from Bangkok. These are independant designer Ts and they are very limited, so do come over quickly! Our concept of the day is very casual ala flea market. we will also have 2nd hand items like toys, comics and CDs for sale. If time and space permit, Lefty is going to have a caricature session as well. Gilamon ‘zine #0, which previously only comes along with the Gilamon/Radioactive T-shirt, will be on sale too. 4:42 pm	Gilamon in Beautiful Junk, Penang Festival: Beautuful Junk Venue: Fort Cornwallis, Penang Date and Time: 11 June 2005 12pm to 11pm Book yourself on the 11th of June 2005, may you be a participant or an audience but try to be there. Make a trip up north if u are not from this beautiful island of Penang. You might experience more than graphic design and music(hint: f.o.o.d.). What makes this event even more interesting is the location of this event: Fort Cornwallis. An expo in a historical fort, how cool is that? The Gilamons will be going up as well, see you all there! Check out the website for further info: http://www.beautiful-junk.com/ So far, Gilamon has submitted our T-shirt n posters design, which will be made available on that day by the good people of Beautiful Junk. Michael and Lefty will definately be there while Sau Lim has to be at a Gempakstarz event down South. There will be a Gilamon booth and stuffs that go on sale would be our Gilamon ashcan #1 and #0 and there will also be some exclusive items that we will reveal later. Lefty will also be having a caricature session. On top of that, there will be bargain bin stuffs a-la flea market. We plan to bring our CDs, comics and stuffs to put up for sale so do come on over! What is Gilamon? Gilamon - is actually an abbreviation of "Gila Monster". However, we choose this name not because of the Gila Monster lizard, but the word "Gila" means "crazy" in the Malay language, and monster is always a favourite subject. Why Gilamon? Gilamon was formed as a playground for us to have the fun with comics and comic related design. No matter its comic book, character designs, graphic design or website, Gilamon's works are passionate and sincere. Our love of the comics as an art form will be shown thru our works. Gilamon is co-founded by Lefty, Chin Sau Lim & Chuah Shih Chung, three extreme sides of a prism. Chin is major in darker tales and black humour, Chuah is very fond of cuter things in life and Lefty is just plain old school. One thing in common though, the passion for comics as an art form is the center of our creativity. While the core may be the three of us but Gilamon's member list continues to expand. Tan Eng Huat is the first to join the team. He will be coming in here and there, whenever he wants to take a break from his hectic Batman schedule. Apart from that, we also have a whole bunch of talented people as member and guest member, such as Baba Chua, Adii Salman, Aliow, Totoro and a few more surprises coming soon. (Comment on this)

We welcome anyone with talent which is hidden for such a long time to come forward and hide no more. This showcase will also promote all the young local creative people no matter in music or design or building to the public through their showcase of works. We will not only involve the locals in the event but also foreigners who want to get recognition in the country. It’s the matter of sharing vision from one and another. Towards our upgrading society today, this event will somehow help the public to see more of what creative lifestyle really means. This is a multicultural event, so everyone from any language, race, level and interest are welcomed. From the independent music point of view, this event is very essential to provide a platform for our local independent bands and artists, that had been struggling all this while to support their music. This event will showcase the prominence established local acts, as well as to expose and bring out the new and talented acts. 3:21 pm	Gilamon #1 Lefty_ as Mike is completing our 1st Gilamon zine(the last 1 is our #0), we received a few heavy weight contributors' artworks. 1 by Adijin and the other by Billy Tan! Adijin's latest work for Devil's Due, Hack/Slash: Evil Ernie is being scheduled for a june release. For those of u who donno who Billy is, he is the penciler for many major comics titles such has the white hot X-23 and Marvel Knight Spider-Man. Billy sent us a penciled splash page of his yet to published creator own series, Ghost Kid. Billy co-created Ghost Kid with his brother Michael. Thank you for your support! Gilamons are deeply honoured. i will have their artworks upload here soon. Coming up next? Jeng-jeng-jeng... the super talented, ever busy (with his Batman maxi-series), Gilamon's honorary member, Tan Eng Huat! I can't wait to see what will he be drawing for us. 11:59 am	Roman Kodian Lefty: When I experienced something thru life, movie, music etc, my mind comes up with thoughts. They r vaguely lingering around my head. Sometimes, when I m lucky, I came across articles dat speaks like a hammer dat knocks me into my senses. Articles dats sharp, witty, creatively written and most importantly easy 2read. Articles dat make me laugh, inspired, excited, energized n wanna scream "Yeah, man! U got it!!!" I m da type dat hav lingering thoughts. Roman Kodian is da guy who does those brilliant writings.
